Softball Recap: Hermiston's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Hermiston's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Walla Walla Blue Devils 11-4. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Piper Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Hermiston got a massive performance out of Karsyn Botefuhr, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Botefuhr a new career-high. Kenley Venoy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Hermiston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win snapped Hermiston's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-9 record. As for Walla Walla, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hermiston beat Walla Walla by a score of 19-2 later that day.
