Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Buckeyes are ranked 438th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Isaiah Stephens continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of New Lexington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Stephens, who posted eight points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Philo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Tri-Valley, falling 68-27. The matchup marked the Electrics' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
New Lexington will have to keep a close watch on Rusty Trout and Carter Crabtree, a pair of players who had a big impact on Philo's prior game. Trout put up 11 points, while Crabtree had eight points.
New Lexington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Philo, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: New Lexington has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 20 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Philo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
