Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lago Vista). Everything went their way against the Eastside Early College Panthers on Friday as the Lago Vista Vikings made off with a 22-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Winter Callahan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.
In other batting news, Lago Vista got a massive performance out of Ellie Helton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. Those two triples gave Helton a new career-high. Sydney Mosser was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Lago Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.4.
Lago Vista's record now sits at 8-9. As for Eastside Early College, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
