Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawton). They blew past the Bloomingdale Cardinals 23-10 on Monday. Considering the Blue Devils have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubri Conklin made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Conklin was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lily McCory was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last 15 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Potter, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Lawton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. They are 8-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The victory (which was Lawton's third in a row) raised their record to 8-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games.
