Brock Burkett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Keller over Byron Nelson
Starting off the list is Keller's Brock Burkett, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Burkett rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 185 yards on 14 of 28 attempts. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.
On the season, Burkett has averaged 65.2 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 24.48 passer rating per game. This year he is averaging 60.8 passer rating.

Northwest picked up their sixth consecutive win on Thursday thanks in part to Nathanial Jean. Jean showed up in a big way, rushing for 175 yards and a touchdown. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (102.8) per game. Those 175 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Northwest pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Jean and Northwest will challenge Southlake Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Penn Made His Presence Known in Southlake Carroll's 50-14 Victory
Southlake Carroll picked up their seventh consecutive win on Thursday thanks in part to Davis Penn. Penn was unstoppable, rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
V.R. Eaton's probably not too fond of Penn given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Penn saw the Eagles), he rushed for 128 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries.

Brock Boyd Delivers Electric Performance Vs V.R. Eaton
Brock Boyd was instrumental in extending Southlake Carroll's winning streak to seven on Thursday. Boyd turned in nothing short of a gem, picking up 79 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground.
On the year, Boyd has caught 10 touchdowns while averaging 110.4 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he had three receiving touchdowns.

Northwest Wins Sixth-Straight Thanks to Ryder Norton
Ryder Norton was instrumental in extending Northwest's winning streak to six on Thursday. Norton was unstoppable, throwing for 156 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 40 yards.
