The Martin County Knights were the 78-56 winner over the Tarboro Vikings when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Martin County took a 79-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), Martin County still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Martin County still got an impressive performance from Tayvon Lee, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Ty'quaious Baker was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Martin County and nudges their season record down to 12-8. As for Tarboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martin County will take on the Red Barons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tarboro, they will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bertie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Vikings in North Carolina (the Falcons are ranked 101st, while the Vikings are ranked 457th).
