Basketball Recap: Bandys Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Haley Cross and Lexi Vaughan

Bandys was the 61-55 winner over North Lincoln when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Bandys Trojans came up short against the North Lincoln Knights on Saturday, falling 68-42.

Despite the defeat, Bandys had strong showings from Lexi Vaughan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards, and Haley Cross, who posted eight points. Vaughan's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Leading North Lincoln to victory were Ashlyn Black and Ally Smith. Black almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Smith went 7 of 13 on her way to 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Grice, who went 7 of 8 on her way to 16 points.

Bandys' loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for North Lincoln, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bandys will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lincolnton at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for North Lincoln, they will head out to square off against Hickory at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
