The Aquinas Institute Little Irish will head out on the road to face off against the McQuaid Jesuit Knights at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Aquinas Institute sitting on four straight victories and McQuaid Jesuit on seven.
Last Friday, Aquinas Institute beat Hilton 17-10.
Aquinas Institute's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trent Buttles, who threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Aquinas Institute also got a significant boost from Derrion Battle, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 110 yards.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but McQuaid Jesuit ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Brighton 32-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Aquinas Institute has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for McQuaid Jesuit, their win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-0.
Aquinas Institute came up short against McQuaid Jesuit when the teams last played back in September of 2022, falling 34-27. Can Aquinas Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
