The Mount View Golden Knights managed to keep up with the Wyoming East Warriors until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Mount View suffered a tough 55-32 loss at the hands of the Warriors. While losing is never fun, Mount View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Warriors are ranked 34th).
Mount View lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zymir Martin, who scored 14 points. That was a full 43.8% of Mount View's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Matthias Johnson, who scored 11 points.
Mount View's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Wyoming East, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Mount View will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Van has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Wyoming East, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m.
