The Denver Academy Mustangs's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Rocky Mountain Lutheran by a score of 52-45. The victory was just what Denver Academy needed coming off of a 88-31 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Nolan Monasch, who scored 23 points. Luc Stanley was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Despite the defeat, Rocky Mountain Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: Gavin Borchardt dropped a double-double on 14 points and 26 rebounds. Borchardt is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Harris, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Denver Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bishop Machebeuf at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. Bishop Machebeuf will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they will head out on the road to challenge Campion Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
