4A Conference 10 recap October 22, 2013
Northern's Deshon Holmes rumbled for the longest rushing play in 4A Conference 10 this season in his game against East Chapel Hill last week. Holmes scampered for 68 yards on the play and finished with 110 on the day as his team defeated the Wildcats.
Northern took down East Chapel Hill 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Alphonso Gbojueh ran for 116 yards during the win.
Corey Young was the best receiver in the league this week as Person beat Jordan. Young racked up 2 receptions for 56 yards. LeRon Cash helped Person's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 44 yards.
Person's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Rockets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Trevon Tapp has thrown for 913 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Marquis Torain has 18 catches for 347 yards. Tapp also leads the league in rushing with 467 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Conference 10 this week will be when Hillside takes on R.J Wilson's team. As it stands, the Hornets are in first, while the Knights are in fourth.
Northern made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,669 from 6,448. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-6 victory over John Sherman's team last week.
