The Riverside Chargers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past Central Valley with points to spare, taking the game 49-34. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Riverside also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Riverside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dane Schalk out in front who scored 13 points. Jack Molt was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
When it comes to explaining why Central Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zaden Wolf. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with two steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Wolf posted two or more blocks.
Riverside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Central Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will take on Arcadia/Loup City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fullerton at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Fullerton is ranked 194th, while Central Valley is ranked 171st).
