The Addison Bulldogs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Haleyville Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Thursday, Addison had to suffer through a rough 65-33 loss at the hands of Vinemont. While losing is never fun, Addison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Vinemont is ranked 97th).
Meanwhile, Haleyville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Lawrence County on the road and fell 49-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Haleyville has scored all season.
Addison bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Haleyville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Addison came up short against Haleyville when the teams last played back in December of 2015, falling 44-35. Can Addison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
