Providence Day took a 24-point loss the last time they faced off against Charlotte Country Day School, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Providence Day Chargers skirted past the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers 41-39. The win was nothing new for the Chargers as they're now sitting on five straight.

Providence Day found their leader in sophomore Ginny Anne Dumont, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. What's more, Dumont also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jane Updyke, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Providence Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olive Bigham, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 15 points and eight boards. Bigham's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Vanderhave, who put up 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Providence Day is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 21 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Charlotte Country Day School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-8.

Coincidentally, Providence Day and Charlotte Country Day School will both be playing Cannon the next time they take the court. Charlotte Country Day School will host Cannon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Providence Day will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
