Unity Reed extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 22 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-14. They came up short against the Battlefield Bobcats, falling 30-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in April.
As for Battlefield, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
For Battlefield's part, Brady Burkhart and Josh Gunning made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Burkhart pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gunning tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Burkhart went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Gunning went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Gunning is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played.
In other pitching news, Josh Monahan looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Battlefield let Luke Raflo and Teagan Leach run wild. Raflo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Leach went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Raflo has posted since back in April. Grayson Abell was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Unity Reed will head out to face off against Osbourn at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.53 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Battlefield, they will welcome Gainesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
