Jack Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Seton Catholic let Teddy Wieczorek and Ryker Ruelas run wild. Wieczorek got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI, while Ruelas got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Wieczorek has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Woods, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fort Vancouver made easy work of Stevenson on Thursday and carried off a 16-6 win. Considering the Trappers have won three contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Seton Catholic, Fort Vancouver also got a great game from a two-way player: Lincoln Freeman. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Freeman also tossed two walks, which is notable because Fort Vancouver is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise. Freeman was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Aiden Baron and Sebastian De La Cruz did most of the damage at the plate: Baron got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while De La Cruz went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Fort Vancouver is undefeated when Baron posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Nate Hallock also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Fort Vancouver always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Seton Catholic's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Vancouver, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Seton Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like Fort Vancouver struggles in that department as they've averaged .550. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
