If the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos were feeling good off their 60-40 takedown of the Metro Tech Knights on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. La Joya Community was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 49-48 to Washington.
When it comes to explaining why La Joya Community lost, one person who can't be blamed is Makuach Makuei. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Makuei scored a full 33.3% of La Joya Community's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Hale, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
La Joya Community's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
La Joya Community will be home for the holidays to greet Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon View is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Washington, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert Edge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Desert Edge's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
