Pendleton County let Chase Owens and Caleb Armentrout run wild. Owens went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Armentrout got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Owens is becoming a predictor of Pendleton County's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 6-12 when he doesn't). Spencer Hartman was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
Pendleton County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Tygarts Valley made easy work of Webster County on Monday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.
Adam Woods made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Tygarts Valley got a massive performance out of Austin Gear, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Gear is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Drennen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
Tygarts Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Pendleton County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pendleton County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tygarts Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
