The Skyview Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Littleton Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Skyview will be strutting in after a win while Littleton will be coming in after a loss.
Skyview is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since February 14th on Saturday. Everything went their way against The Vanguard School as Skyview made off with a 57-33 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.
Skyview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yzabella Tafoya, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Lucero, who went 7 of 9 on her way to 15 points and four steals.
Skyview was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Littleton didn't have quite enough to beat Kennedy on Tuesday and fell 38-36. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Skyview will have to keep a close watch on Vicky Whitney and Emma Bird, a pair of players who had a big impact on Littleton's prior game. Whitney posted nine points and eight rebounds, while Bird dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. Whitney is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played.
Skyview is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Littleton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Skyview has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Littleton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Skyview came up short against Littleton when the teams last played back in February, falling 46-42. Can Skyview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
