Baseball Recap: Beachwood Find Success

Beachwood took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against South, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bison narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Rebels 5-4. For the Bison, this counts as revenge for the 13-3 win the Rebels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Ethan Malek and Josh Rosenblitt did most of the damage at the plate: Malek went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, while Rosenblitt went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Malek is becoming a predictor of Beachwood's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 5-14 when he doesn't). Jaycob Zabell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Beachwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.

Beachwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for South, they dropped their record down to 6-14 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Beachwood's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wickliffe at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
