Izzy Nowack was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Elle Smithers was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Norah Dodsworth was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Auburn made easy work of New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly on Tuesday and carried off a 14-1 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Addison Jones, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Keely Boyle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Williamsville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Auburn, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Williamsville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Auburn struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Williamsville suffered a grim 15-7 defeat to Auburn when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bullets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
