The Calloway County Lakers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They skirted past Haywood 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Haywood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaybyon Snipe, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Snipe has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ron Brisbon, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Calloway County pushed their record up to 12-8 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for Haywood, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calloway County will take on the Marshals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Haywood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bolton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Tomcats like a good challenge.
