Dover had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-10 to make it 11. They lost 14-1 to the Spring Grove Rockets. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rockets from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Dover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Ferguson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Spring Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
On Spring Grove's side, Peityn Wonder was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Wonder is becoming a predictor of Spring Grove's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Wonder was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Chris Harner looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Spring Grove let Luke Husser and Jake Desort run wild. Husser got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Desort went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Desort a new career-high. Brady Myers was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Dover wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-4 loss against New Oxford on the 22nd. As for Spring Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Waynesboro on the 24th.
