Softball Recap: Legacy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hamilton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Legacy). They put the hurt on the Hamilton Yankees with a sharp 16-1 victory on Monday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Dail Dorado made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Yesenia Villegas and Katelen Pedroza did most of the damage at the plate: Villegas scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Pedroza went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Pedroza is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brianna Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Hamilton's record now sits at 0-2.

Coming up, Legacy will take on Northview in a tournament on Saturday. Legacy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Northview's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hamilton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wiseburn- Da Vinci at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wiseburn- Da Vinci is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
