Softball Recap: Lincoln Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Lincoln made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Carter, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cowboys with a sharp 15-0 win on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by eight runs or more this season.

Sabree Shelton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Lincoln let Mika Reagor and Na'Tasia Cherry run wild. Reagor went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Cherry scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. Cherry is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Genesis Diaz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carter only posted a batting average of .000.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 12-4-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Carter, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lincoln is set to challenge their familiar foe Conrad at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carter will face off against rival Wilmer-Hutchins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
