Softball Recap: Grand Blanc Makes It Six in a Row at Home

16 must be Grand Blanc's lucky number: they beat Carman-Ainsworth with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Bobcats didn't even let the Cavaliers on the board, marking the Bobcats' second-straight 16-0 shutout. Considering the Bobcats have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kayla Blumenschein made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Kate Mitchell was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Brooke Rhode was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Grand Blanc kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Grand Blanc's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Carman-Ainsworth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Grand Blanc wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Dakota on the 25th. Carman-Ainsworth has also already played their next game (against Lapeer East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
