Metrolina Christian Academy is 8-2 against SouthLake Christian Academy since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Metrolina Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so SouthLake Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Metrolina Christian Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Charlotte Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-3. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.
Chase Kiker was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Meanwhile, SouthLake Christian Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Spartans a 10-0 shutout. Ten seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Like Metrolina Christian Academy, SouthLake Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Sean Rodesiler. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rodesiler also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because SouthLake Christian Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Rodesiler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jackson Drayton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Hogg, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
SouthLake Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gaston Day struck out 14 times.
SouthLake Christian Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 17-1.
Metrolina Christian Academy took their victory against SouthLake Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
