Millennium has won five straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Venture Academy has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Falcons will welcome the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Millennium 2.3, Venture Academy 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Millennium's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Wednesday. They came out on top against Ben Holt College Prep Academy by a score of 5-0. The five-run effort marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The result came thanks to Hayden Faaborg's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gianna Negrete, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Millennium was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Holt College Prep Academy only posted a batting average of .091.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Venture Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Titans 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Savanah Espinoza made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Espinoza was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tiffany Bruss was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Natalie Padilla was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Venture Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Millennium, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Millennium has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .573. However, it's not like Venture Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .539. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millennium took their victory against Venture Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
