The Harris County Tigers had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 win over Drew on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Harris County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Alexander, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Alexander pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Broome, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Harris County's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-13. As for Drew, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.
Harris County will be playing at home against Shaw at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shaw has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 169 points over their last three contests. As for Drew, they will head out on the road to face off against North Clayton at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Clayton is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Drew a 20-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
