La Cueva's 43 - 14 win over Cibola last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior D'andre Williams. Williams ran for 198 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance made Williams one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
A
The battle between Cleveland (ranked 2nd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Mayfield (ranked 17th) turned out to be a somewhat underwhelming competition. The final score between Cleveland and Mayfield was a 41 - 6 blowout in Cleveland's favor. Cleveland did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated.
No Stoppin 'Em
Rio Rancho gave both Las Cruces and its quarterback (sacked 8.5 times) a rough time last week. Rio Rancho came up short against Las Cruces, falling 44 - 33. The defeat came about despite a quality game from junior Isaiah Chavez, who threw for 284 yards and five touchdowns.
