Fountain Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past Elbert 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Danes in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.
Fountain Valley was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10.
Fountain Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylin McKessy led the charge by getting ten digs and ten assists. Sarah Holman was another key player, getting ten kills.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Banning Lewis Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Lamar. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Stallions haven't been shut out since back in August.
While Banning Lewis Academy was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 25-10.
Banning Lewis Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Fountain Valley, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
