Basketball Recap: Yavneh Academy Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

It's playoff time, and Yavneh Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They snuck past the Wylie Prep Academy Patriots with a 62-57 win on Tuesday.

Yavneh Academy was led to victory by Jordyn Spalding and Lilly Yalovsky. Spalding almost dropped a triple-double with 23 points, nine assists, and nine steals, while Yalovsky dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards. Spalding's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yael Trachtingot, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Wylie Prep Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily True, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards. True has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played. Sage Dixon was another key player, putting up 17 points and six boards.

Yavneh Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. Wylie Prep Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10.

Yavneh Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-29 defeat against Fellowship Academy on the 20th. Wylie Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
