AAA Region 2 recap September 24, 2013
Peach County scaled the state rankings by moving to 151 from 200 this week, the biggest jump in AAA Region 2. The Trojans climbed the ranks as a result of topping Macon County 17-14.
Pike County fell to Central 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Peach County's dynamic duo of Greg Williams and Tyler Gibson proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Williams threw for 168 yards and Gibson had 95 yards receiving. Saire Davis helped Peach County's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 50 yards.
Chad Campbell's team's dynamic duo of Williams and Gibson proved to be unstoppable against Macon County, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Gibson was the best wideout in the league this week as the Trojans beat Larry Harold's team.
Jatavian Tyson was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 5 carries, he ran for 61 yards as Jackson topped the Bulldogs. Teammate Ira Sheppard added to the ground attack by rushing for 10 yards.
Williams put up the best numbers in passing as the Trojans beat Macon County.
Peach County's Williams and Gibson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AAA Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 942 yards this season, while Gibson has 24 catches for 456 yards. De'Eric Bell from the Red Devils leads the league in rushing with 109 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Carver takes on the Pirates. The Tigers are currently in first, while Pike County is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Carver takes on Brad Webber's team. Joe Kegler's team has allowed 78 points this season, while the Pirates have given up 111. The Tigers allowed 17 points last week as they bested Tri-Cities.
