The Clinton Dark Horses put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 64-12 win over Kinston at home. Fans of Clinton have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Clinton was led to victory by nydarion blackwell and Josiah MClaurin. blackwell threw for 302 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, while MClaurin gained 204 total yards and six touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jakarrion Kenan, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Clinton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Josiah Dwyer and his four sacks.
Clinton's win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Northside - Jacksonville and 1-9 Northside - Jacksonville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.1% over those games). As for Kinston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Clinton will be playing in front of their home fans against Beddingfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beddingfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Clinton is ranked 37th). Kinston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
