The False River Gators will head out on the road to challenge the Mt. Hermon Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully False River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
False River suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against North Central, falling 84-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat False River has suffered against North Central since January 29, 2016.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jacob Baker, who scored 21 points. That was a full 42.9% of False River's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Matthew Graffeo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Mt. Hermon has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They strolled past Christ Episcopal School with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 52-38.
This is the second loss in a row for False River and nudges their season record down to 9-16. As for Mt. Hermon, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.
False River skirted past Mt. Hermon 59-56 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for False River since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
