4A District 6 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Los Lunas extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 6 this week by beating Sandia, 20-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Gallup was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Bengals beat Capital 35-0 earlier in the week.
Los Lunas' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Wisneski threw for 109 yards and Chris Sanchez had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Jalen Chavez chipped in 146 yards. Darron Gallegos helped Los Lunas' passing attack out by catching four balls for 30 yards.
Miyamura's Zach Shank and Anthony Esquibel have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shank has thrown for 761 yards this season, while Esquibel has 12 catches for 207 yards. Chavez from Jeremy Newton's team leads the league in rushing with 557 yards.
Gallup took down the Jaguars 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
