Alexandria City hasn't had much luck against Meridian recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Alexandria City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Alexandria City lost a heartbreaker the last time they played West Potomac, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Titans put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 15-5 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Leah Matthews made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Matthews was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Alli Goetz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Addie Tuttle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Alexandria City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Potomac only managed eight hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Meridian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Warren County on Tuesday. The Mustangs have beaten the Wildcats the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.
Elena Clark-Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 19 Ks. Those 19 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Claire Hartenstein, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Angelica Biegiecka also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meridian's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Alexandria City, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
Meridian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Alexandria City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. It's a different story for Meridian, though, as they've only averaged .193. Will they be able to contain Alexandria City's hitters?
