It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Cuero Gobblers can now relate to. They suffered a tough 28-7 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday. Cuero's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Mason Notaro threw for 147 yards on six of 17 attempts.
Dayton Varela was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards. On the ground,
Kenneth Jackson rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jasper to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zykeelan Hadnot, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Raja Garza-Adams was in the mix too, providing Jasper with two touchdowns.
Cuero's defeat dropped their record down to 12-1. As for Jasper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Cuero does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jasper will take on Bellville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bellville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
