La Quinta has gone a perfect 10-0 against Rancho Mirage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blackhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. La Quinta's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Rancho Mirage's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
La Quinta is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Shadow Hills just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-3.
Meanwhile, Rancho Mirage waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 24-5 margin over the Saints. The Rattlers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
Anelisa Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Rancho Mirage let Dayanara Marquez and Alea (Nissi) Marquez run wild. Dayanara got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Alea (Nissi) went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two stolen bases gave Dayanara a new career-high. Lilian Rocha was another key player, going 1-for-4 with five runs and two RBI.
Rancho Mirage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.
Rancho Mirage pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. As for La Quinta, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 16-3-1.
La Quinta took their win against Rancho Mirage in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
