Considering the Comets have won seven matchups by more than five  runs this season, Monday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Elgin has  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Waynesfield-Goshen,  the  win  got them back to even at 3-3.
 Waynesfield-Goshen might still be hurting after the  9-1 loss they got from Elgin  when the teams last played  back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
