Jefferson is 0-10 against the Panthers since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jefferson Patriots will look to defend their home court against the Hillcrest Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Jefferson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1323rd, while the Panthers are ranked 510th).
Two weeks ago, Jefferson had to suffer through a rough 72-37 loss at the hands of the Wildcats.
Even though Hillcrest has not done well against the Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Hillcrest came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 61-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hillcrest.
Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braden Vance, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Jed-ethan Nansha, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Jefferson's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Hillcrest, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.
Jefferson took a serious blow against the Panthers when the teams last played back in January, falling 92-28. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Jefferson was down 47-23.
