The Rutherford Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Franklin County Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Rutherford took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Blountstown 3-2.
Connor Ward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs allowed (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Devin Langley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Aren Magnuson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Franklin County narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Florida State University High School 3-2.
The team relied heavily on Chason Martina, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Rutherford's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Franklin County, their record is now 4-2.
Rutherford might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Franklin County in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Rutherford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
