2A-1 Region III District 12 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Whitney moved up to 929 from 968 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region III District 12. The Wildcats were able to make the jump by falling to Grandview 56-21.
The Zebras' dynamic duo of Ryan Breton and Colby Lee proved tough for Whitney to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Breton threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns and Lee had 133 yards receiving. Bailey Smith helped Grandview's passing attack out by catching nine balls for 133 yards.
Mike Hammond made the biggest impact on defense this week as Craig Stanton's team lost to Grandview. The senior grabbed one sack.
Judge Wolfe was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 169 yards on 26 carries as Palmer defeated the Wildcats.
The Zebras' Breton and Lee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Breton has thrown for 1598 yards this season, while Lee has 51 catches for 713 yards. Wolfe from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 790 yards.
A big matchup in 2A-1 Region III District 12 this week will be when Godley takes on Palmer. The Wildcats are in first place, while Duke Dalton's team is in third place.
Whitney made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,504 from 11,087. The advance stemmed from a 56-21 victory over the Wildcats last week.
