Baseball Game Preview: Overton Wolverines vs. Sheffield Knights

Overton has gone a perfect 4-0 against Sheffield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wolverines are taking a road trip to face off against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Overton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Overton got the win against Memphis Business Academy by a conclusive 20-10. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by nine runs or more this season.

Julian Tallent was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marquel Brooks, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Overton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .519 that Memphis Business Academy posted.

Meanwhile, Sheffield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillcrest. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly three runs.

Michael Ware was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing five bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Overton's victory bumped their record up to 8-3-1. As for Sheffield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5-1.

Everything went Overton's way against Sheffield when the teams last played back in March, as Overton made off with an 18-3 win. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
