Basketball Recap: Lake Washington Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Lake Washington entered their tilt with Mercer Island on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Mercer Island Islanders with a sharp 78-53 victory. The Kangaroos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Washington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashley Uusitalo, who shot 5-for-7 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Uusitalo's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Paige Citron was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 18 points and five assists.

Lake Washington was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercer Island only racked up nine assists.

Several Islanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anna Marsh, who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Marsh has posted since back in January of 2024. Kate Gregson also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Lake Washington's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Mercer Island, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Washington will challenge Juanita at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake Washington is facing Juanita at the right time seeing as Juanita is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Mercer Island, they will take on Bothell at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mercer Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
