NCISAA Big East recap Nov. 7, 2012
Harrells Christian Academy's Patrick Walker rumbled for the longest rushing play in NCISAA Big East this season in his game against High Point Christian Academy last week. Walker scampered for 94 yards on the play and finished with 152 on the day as his team bested the Cougars.
Harrells Christian Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating High Point Christian Academy, 70-18. The victory was the seventh in a row for Brian Aldridge's team.
North Raleigh Christian Academy's dynamic duo of John Cook and Charlie Davisson proved tough for Hickory Grove Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cook threw for 132 yards and one touchdown and Davisson had 55 yards receiving. Cody Sterrett helped North Raleigh Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching four balls for 37 yards.
Jeff Gemmell made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Knights bested the Lions. The 6-foot-1 junior grabbed three sacks.
Russell Washington was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 353 yards as the Crusaders defeated Hickory Grove Christian. Teammate Kelly Nelms added to the ground attack by rushing for 183 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Cook of Rich Landis' team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1990. He has also thrown 31 touchdowns. On the ground, Harrells Christian Academy's Washington has rushed for 2467 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bryan Moore. The Fayetteville Christian star has 49 catches for 1353 yards.
Accruing a total of 22 touchdowns this year, Tyler Sweatt has thrown for 1897 yards with nine interceptions.
The Crusaders made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,327 from 6,831. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 70-18 victory over the Cougars last week.
