The Midland Christian Mustangs will challenge the Hyde Park Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Midland Christian comes in on 14 and Hyde Park on eight.
Back in April, Midland Christian got the win against Sundown by a conclusive 9-2. Considering the Mustangs have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddy Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Annie Munoz was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Graham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Hyde Park had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against Southwest Christian School on Monday as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The Panthers are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 14th contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Brooke Magids was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Kylie Yeager was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Hyde Park lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive games.
Midland Christian's record is now 20-4-1. As for Hyde Park, their record now sits at 19-4.
Midland Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Hyde Park in their previous meeting back in May of 2018, winning 11-7. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
