Mayfield is a perfect 10-0 against Chadwick since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cubs will be playing at home against the Dolphins at 3:30 p.m. Mayfield is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Mayfield managed to slip by Providence the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cubs came up short against the Pioneers on Tuesday, falling 11-4.

Jaz Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Chadwick didn't have quite enough to beat Flintridge Prep on Tuesday and fell 5-4. The Dolphins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sammy Santa Ana put in work no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Santa Ana was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Noella Wren and Riley Chen did some serious damage despite the final result: Wren went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Chen went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Liberty Figueroa, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-2. As for Chadwick, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Chadwick's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mayfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Chadwick, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Mayfield's hitters?
Mayfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Chadwick in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dolphins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
