The Heppner Mustangs never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against the Grant Union Prospectors on Friday. They blew past the Prospectors, posting a 54-14 win on the road. With Heppner ahead 46-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Heppner's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conner Wilson, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Caden George also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Heppner is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Grant Union, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Heppner will be playing in front of their home fans against Bandon/Pacific at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bandon/Pacific is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Grant Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
