Riverdale Country won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by The Pingry School 23-22. The win made it back-to-back wins for Riverdale Country.
James Spiegel was his usual excellent self, rushing for 204 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown.
The Pingry School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Mike Hollomon iii, who threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Woodford, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Riverdale Country's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for The Pingry School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.
Riverdale Country will head out on the road to face off against Poly Prep Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poly Prep Country Day presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Riverdale Country in New York (Poly Prep Country Day is ranked 42nd, while Riverdale Country is ranked 296th). The Pingry School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
